Abu al-Hasan Muhammad ibn al-Husayn al-Alawi informed us, Abu Abdullah Muhammad ibn Sa'id ibn Hammawayh al-Nasawi informed us, Abu Bakr Muhammad ibn al-Faraj al-Azraq narrated to us, Abu al-Nadr narrated to us, Shu'bah narrated to us from Maysarah from al-Minhal from Abu Ubaydah from Abdullah who saw a man putting his feet together — meaning in prayer — and said: He has gone against the Sunnah. If he had alternated, it would have been more beloved to me. It was reported from Abdullah ibn al-Zubayr that he put his feet together in prayer. And it was reported from him, as previously mentioned, that he said: Putting the feet together and placing one hand over the other is from the Sunnah. Ibn al-Zubayr's hadith is connected, and Abu Ubaydah's from his father is mursal, and Allah knows best.
