أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَلِيٍّ الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الرُّوذْبَارِيُّ أنبأ إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الصَّفَّارُ ثنا أَبُو عَلِيٍّ الْحَسَنُ بْنُ الْفَضْلِ بْنِ السَّمْحِ ثنا سَهْلُ بْنُ تَمَّامٍ ثنا أَبُو الْأَشْهَبِ وَسَلْمُ بْنُ زُرَيْرٍ عَنْ أَبِي رَجَاءٍ الْعُطَارِدِيِّ قَالَ صَلَّى بِنَا ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ صَلَاةَ الصُّبْحِ وَهُوَ أَمِيرٌ عَلَى الْبَصْرَةِ فَقَنَتَ قَبْلَ الرُّكُوعِ وَرَفَعَ يَدَيْهِ حَتَّى لَوْ أَنَّ رَجُلًا بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ لَرَأَى بَيَاضَ إِبْطَيْهِ فَلَمَّا قَضَى الصَّلَاةَ أَقْبَلَ عَلَيْنَا بِوَجْهِهِ فَقَالَ هَذِهِ الصَّلَاةُ الَّتِي ذَكَرَهَا اللهُ ﷻ فِي كِتَابِهِ {حَافِظُوا عَلَى الصَّلَوَاتِ وَالصَّلَاةِ الْوُسْطَى وَقُومُوا لِلَّهِ قَانِتِينَ} [البقرة 238] وَكَذَلِكَ

Abu Raja al-Utaridi said: "Ibn Abbas led us in the Fajr prayer while he was the governor of Basra. He performed qunut before the ruku and raised his hands until, had a man been standing in front of him, he would have seen the whiteness of his armpits. When he finished the prayer, he turned to us and said: 'This is the prayer that Allah the Almighty mentioned in His Book: Guard strictly the prayers and the middle prayer, and stand before Allah in devout obedience.'"
