أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو الْحُسَيْنِ بْنُ الْفَضْلِ الْقَطَّانُ بِبَغْدَادَ أنبأ أَبُو سَهْلِ بْنُ زِيَادٍ الْقَطَّانُ ثنا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْبَصْرِيُّ ثنا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ رَجَاءٍ ح وَأَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ ثنا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ الْفَقِيهُ أنبأ أَبُو عَلِيٍّ هِشَامُ بْنُ عَلِيِّ بْنِ هِشَامٍ السِّيَرَافِيُّ ثنا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ رَجَاءٍ ثنا شَيْبَانُ أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ عَنْ مَنْصُورٍ عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ عَبِيْدَةَ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ قَالَ سَأَلْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ أِيُّ النَّاسِ خَيْرٌ؟ قَالَ قَرْنِي ثُمَّ الَّذِينَ يَلُونَهُمْ ثُمَّ الَّذِينَ يَلُونَهُمْ ثُمَّ الَّذِينَ يَلُونَهُمْ ثُمَّ يَجِيءُ قَوْمٌ تَسْبِقُ شَهَادَةُ أَحَدِهِمْ يَمِينَهُ وَيَمِينُهُ شَهَادَتَهُ قَالَ إِبْرَاهِيمُ فَكَانَ أَصْحَابُنَا يَنْهَوْنَنَا وَنَحْنُ غِلْمَانٌ أَنْ نَحْلِفَ بِالشَّهَادَةِ وَالْعَهْدِ لَفْظُ حَدِيثِهِمَا سَوَاءٌ إِلَّا أَنَّ قَوْلَهُ ثُمَّ الَّذِينَ يَلُونَهُمْ فِي رِوَايَةِ الْقَطَّانِ مَرَّتَيْنِ
الترجمة الإنجليزية
Abdullah ibn Mas'ud said: I asked the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him): Which people are the best? He said: My generation, then those who follow them, then those who follow them, then those who follow them. Then there will come a people whose testimony will precede their oath and whose oath will precede their testimony. Ibrahim said: Our companions used to discipline us as children for swearing by testimony and covenant. The wording of both narrations is the same, except that in al-Qattan's narration, 'then those who follow them' appears twice.
