And its supporting evidence is what Abu Muhammad Abdullah ibn Yahya ibn Abd al-Jabbar al-Sukkari informed us in Baghdad, Isma'il ibn Muhammad al-Saffar informed us, Abbas ibn Abdullah al-Tarqufi narrated to us, Muhammad ibn al-Mubarak narrated to us, Yahya ibn Hamzah narrated to me, Muhammad ibn al-Walid al-Zubaydi narrated to me from Marwan ibn Rawbah, who narrated to him from Abd al-Rahman ibn Abi Awf al-Jurashi, from al-Miqdam ibn Ma'dikarib al-Kindi, from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), who said: "I have been given the Book and its equivalent - meaning, its like. Soon a well-fed man reclining on his couch will say: 'Between us and you is this Book. Whatever is in it of lawful, we make it lawful, and whatever is in it of forbidden, we make it forbidden.' Indeed, it is not so. Every predatory animal with fangs is not lawful, nor is the domestic donkey, nor lost property belonging to a treaty-holder unless he has no need of it. And whoever is hosted by a people and they do not honor him as a guest, then he has the right to exact from them the equivalent of his hospitality."
