أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو الْحَسَنِ عَلِيُّ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ عَبْدَانَ أنبأ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عُبَيْدٍ ثنا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ حَنْبَلٍ ثنا أَبِي ثنا هِشَامٌ يَعْنِي ابْنَ سَعِيدٍ الطَّالَقَانِيَّ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مُهَاجِرٍ حَدَّثَنِي عَقِيلُ بْنُ شَبِيبٍ عَنْ أَبِي وَهْبٍ الْجُشَمِيِّ ؓ وَكَانَتْ لَهُ صُحْبَةٌ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ سَمُّوا بِأَسْمَاءِ الْأَنْبِيَاءِ وَأَحَبُّ الْأَسْمَاءِ إِلَى اللهِ عَبْدُ اللهِ وَعَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ وَأَصْدَقُهَا حَارِثٌ وَهَمَّامٌ وَأَقْبَحُهَا حَرْبٌ وَمُرَّةُ

Abu al-Hasan Ali ibn Ahmad ibn Abdan informed us > Ahmad ibn Ubayd > Abdullah ibn Ahmad ibn Hanbal > my father > Hisham ibn Sa'id al-Talaqani > Muhammad ibn Muhajir > Aqil ibn Shabib > Abu Wahb al-Jushami (may Allah be pleased with him), who was a companion, said: The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: 'Name yourselves with the names of the Prophets. The most beloved names to Allah are Abdullah and Abd al-Rahman, the most truthful are Harith and Hammam, and the ugliest are Harb and Murrah.'
