أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو سَعِيدِ بْنُ أَبِي عَمْرٍو ثنا أَبُو الْعَبَّاسِ الْأَصَمُّ ثنا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ عَلِيِّ بْنِ عَفَّانَ ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ آدَمَ ثنا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ عَيَّاشٍ عَنْ أَبِي حُصَيْنٍ عَنْ زِيَادِ بْنِ حُدَيْرٍ قَالَ كُنْتُ أُعَشِّرُ بَنِي تَغْلِبَ كُلَّمَا أَقْبَلُوا وَأَدْبَرُوا فَانْطَلَقَ شَيْخٌ مِنْهُمْ إِلَى عُمَرَ فَقَالَ إِنَّ زِيَادًا يُعَشِّرُنَا كُلَّمَا أَقْبَلْنَا أَوْ أَدْبَرْنَا فَقَالَ تُكْفَى ذَلِكَ ثُمَّ أَتَاهُ الشَّيْخُ بَعْدَ ذَلِكَ وَعُمَرُ ؓ فِي جَمَاعَةٍ فَقَالَ يَا أَمِيرَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ أَنَا الشَّيْخُ النَّصْرَانِيُّ فَقَالَ عُمَرُ ؓ وَأَنَا الشَّيْخُ الْحَنِيفُ قَدْ كُفِيتَ قَالَ وَكَتَبَ إِلِيَّ أَنْ لَا تُعَشِّرَهُمْ فِي السَّنَةِ إِلَّا مَرَّةً
الترجمة الإنجليزية
Abu Sa'id ibn Abi 'Amr informed us, Abu al-'Abbas al-Asamm narrated to us, al-Hasan ibn 'Ali ibn 'Affan narrated to us, Yahya ibn Adam narrated to us, Abu Bakr ibn 'Ayyash narrated to us from Abu Husayn, from Ziyad ibn Hudayr, who said: I used to collect tithes from the Banu Taghlib whenever they came and went. An elder among them went to 'Umar and said: "Ziyad collects tithes from us every time we come or go." 'Umar said: "That will be taken care of." Then the elder came to him again while 'Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) was in a gathering and said: "O Commander of the Faithful, I am the Christian elder." 'Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "And I am the Hanif (monotheist) elder" — meaning, I am the Muslim one dealing justly with you.
