أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ وَأَبُو زَكَرِيَّا بْنُ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ وَأَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ قَالُوا ثنا أَبُو الْعَبَّاسِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ أنبأ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْحَكَمِ أنبأ ابْنُ وَهْبٍ أَخْبَرَنِي يُونُسُ بْنُ يَزِيدَ عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ عَنْ عُرْوَةَ أَنَّ هِشَامَ بْنَ حَكِيمٍ ؓ وَجَدَ رَجُلًا وَهُوَ عَلَى حِمْصَ يُشَمِّسُ نَاسًا مِنَ الْقِبْطِ فِي أَدَاءِ الْجِزْيَةِ فَقَالَ مَا هَذَا؟ إِنِّي سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ إِنَّ اللهَ يُعَذِّبُ الَّذِينَ يُعَذِّبُونَ النَّاسَ فِي الدُّنْيَا

Abu 'Abdullah al-Hafiz, Abu Zakariyya ibn Abi Ishaq, and Abu Bakr ibn al-Hasan said: Abu al-'Abbas Muhammad ibn Ya'qub narrated to us, Muhammad ibn 'Abdullah ibn 'Abd al-Hakam narrated to us, Ibn Wahb narrated to us, Yunus ibn Yazid informed me from Ibn Shihab, from 'Urwah, that Hisham ibn Hakim (may Allah be pleased with him) found a man — while he was governor over Hims — making some of the Copts stand in the sun for the payment of jizya. He said: "What is this? Indeed, I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) say: 'Allah will torment those who torment people in this world.'"
