أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو زَكَرِيَّا بْنُ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ وَأَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ الْقَاضِي قَالَا ثنا أَبُو الْعَبَّاسِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ ثنا بَحْرُ بْنُ نَصْرٍ ثنا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ حَدَّثَنِي عَاصِمُ بْنُ حَكِيمٍ عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ أَبِي عَمْرٍو السَّيْبَانِيِّ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ عُقْبَةَ بْنِ عَامِرٍ الْجُهَنِيِّ أَنَّهُ مَرَّ بِرَجُلٍ هَيْئَتُهُ هَيْئَةُ رَجُلٍ مُسْلِمٍ فَسَلَّمَ فَرَدَّ عَلَيْهِ عُقْبَةُ وَعَلَيْكَ وَرَحْمَةُ اللهِ وَبَرَكَاتُهُ فَقَالَ لَهُ الْغُلَامُ أَتَدْرِي عَلَى مَنْ رَدَدْتَ؟ فَقَالَ أَلَيْسَ بِرَجُلٍ مُسْلِمٍ؟ فَقَالُوا لَا وَلَكِنَّهُ نَصْرَانِيٌّ فَقَامَ عُقْبَةُ فَتَبِعَهُ حَتَّى أَدْرَكَهُ فَقَالَ إِنَّ رَحْمَةَ اللهِ وَبَرَكَاتِهِ عَلَى الْمُؤْمِنِينَ لَكِنْ أَطَالَ اللهُ حَيَاتَكَ وَأَكْثَرَ مَالَكَ وَرُوِّينَا عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ مَعْنَاهُ فِي الِابْتِدَاءِ بِالسَّلَامِ
الترجمة الإنجليزية
Abu Zakariyya ibn Abi Ishaq and Abu Bakr ibn al-Hasan the judge said: Abu al-'Abbas Muhammad ibn Ya'qub narrated to us, Bahr ibn Nasr narrated to us, Ibn Wahb narrated to us, 'Asim ibn Hakim narrated to me from Yahya ibn Abi 'Amr al-Saybani, from his father, from 'Uqbah ibn 'Amir al-Juhani, that he passed by a man whose appearance was that of a Muslim, so the man greeted him. 'Uqbah responded: "And upon you, and the mercy of Allah, and His blessings." A servant said to him: "Do you know upon whom you responded?" He said: "Is he not a Muslim man?" They said: "No, he is a Christian." So 'Uqbah went and followed him and said: "May the mercy and blessings of Allah be upon those who deserve them. But upon you, may Allah increase what He has placed upon you."
