أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ أَخْبَرَنِي أَبُو النَّضْرِ الْفَقِيهُ ثنا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ الدَّارِمِيُّ وَصَالِحُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الرَّازِيُّ قَالَا ثنا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ ثنا شُعْبَةُ بْنُ الْحَجَّاجِ عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ مُرَّةَ عَنْ أَبِي وَائِلٍ عَنْ أَبِي مُوسَى الْأَشْعَرِيِّ ؓ قَالَ جَاءَ رَجُلٌ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَقَالَ الرَّجُلُ يُقَاتِلُ لِلْمَغْنَمِ وَالرَّجُلُ يُقَاتِلُ لِلذِّكْرِ وَالرَّجُلُ يُقَاتِلُ لِيُعْرَفَ فَمَنْ فِي سَبِيلِ اللهِ؟ فَقَالَ مَنْ قَاتَلَ لِتَكُونَ كَلِمَةُ اللهِ هِيَ الْعُلْيَا فَهُوَ فِي سَبِيلِ اللهِ
الترجمة الإنجليزية
Muhammad ibn Abdullah al-Hafiz informed us, from Abu al-Nadr al-Faqih, from Uthman ibn Sa'id al-Darimi and Salih ibn Muhammad al-Razi, both from Sulayman ibn Harb, from Shu'bah ibn al-Hajjaj, from Amr ibn Murrah, from Abu Wa'il, from Abu Musa al-Ash'ari (may Allah be pleased with him) who said: A man came to the Prophet (peace be upon him) and said: A man fights for spoils, another fights for recognition, and another fights to be seen — who among them is in the cause of Allah? He said: Whoever fights so that the word of Allah is supreme — he is in the cause of Allah.
