أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ أَخْبَرَنِي أَبُو الْوَلِيدِ ثنا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ جَبَلَةَ أنبأ الْحَسَنُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ الْحُلْوَانِيُّ ثنا أَبُو عَامِرٍ ثنا الْمُغِيرَةُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ عَنْ أَبِي الزِّنَادِ عَنِ الْأَعْرَجِ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ؓ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ لَا تَمَنَّوْا لِقَاءَ الْعَدُوِّ وَإِذَا لَقِيتُمُوهُمْ فَاصْبِرُوا

Abu Abdullah al-Hafiz informed us, from Abu al-Walid, from Ibrahim ibn Jabalah, from al-Hasan ibn Ali al-Hulwani, from Abu Amir, from al-Mughirah ibn Abd al-Rahman, from Abu al-Zinad, from al-A'raj, from Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: Do not wish to encounter the enemy, but when you do encounter them, stand firm.
