أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ ثنا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عِيسَى الْحِيرِيُّ أنا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ أَبِي طَالِبٍ أنا عَلِيُّ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ ثنا ابْنُ نُمَيْرٍ عَنْ هِشَامٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ؓ فِي قَوْلِهِ ﷻ {مَنْ كَانَ غَنِيًّا فَلْيَسْتَعْفِفْ وَمَنْ كَانَ فَقِيرًا فَلْيَأْكُلْ بِالْمَعْرُوفِ} [النساء 6] إِنَّهَا نَزَلَتْ فِي وَالِي الْيَتِيمِ إِذَا كَانَ فَقِيرًا أَنْ يَأْكُلَ مِنْهُ مَكَانَ قِيَامِهِ عَلَيْهِ بِالْمَعْرُوفِ

Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) said regarding the verse, 'And whoever is rich should abstain, and whoever is poor may eat in a reasonable manner' [An-Nisa 6]: 'It was revealed regarding the guardian of an orphan - if he is poor, he may eat from it in place of his care over the orphan, in a reasonable manner.'
