As for what Abu Abdullah al-Hafiz and Abu Sa'id ibn Abi Amr informed us: Abu al-Abbas Muhammad ibn Ya'qub narrated to us: Yahya ibn Abi Talib informed us: Yazid ibn Harun informed us: Muhammad ibn Salim narrated from al-Sha'bi from Masruq from Abdullah regarding the grandmother alongside her son, that he said: The first grandmother whom the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) gave one-sixth while her son was alive... But Muhammad ibn Salim is the only one who narrates it this way. It was also narrated from Yunus from Ibn Sirin who said: I was informed. And from Ash'ath ibn Sawwar from Ibn Sirin from Abdullah. And from Ash'ath ibn Abd al-Malik from al-Hasan and Ibn Sirin from the Prophet (peace be upon him). The hadith of Yunus and Ash'ath is disconnected, and Muhammad ibn Salim is not relied upon as proof. The authentic narration regarding this is from Umar, Abdullah, and Imran ibn Husayn.
