He said: I read to 'Abd al-Rahman: Malik, from Yazid ibn 'Abdullah ibn al-Had, from Muhammad ibn Ibrahim ibn al-Harith al-Taymi, from Abu Salamah ibn 'Abd al-Rahman, from Abu Hurayrah, who said: "I went out to Mount Sinai and met Ka'b al-Ahbar, so I sat with him. He related to me from the Torah, and I related to him from the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him. Among what I related to him was that I said: 'The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: The best day on which the sun has risen is Friday. On it Adam was created, on it he was sent down, on it his repentance was accepted, on it he died, and on it the Hour will occur. There is no creature but that it is alert and attentive on Friday from the time it dawns until the sun rises, out of dread of the Hour, except jinn and mankind. And in it there is an hour in which no Muslim servant, while praying, coincides with it asking Allah for something, but He gives it to him.' Ka'b said: 'That happens once every year.' I said: 'Rather, it is every Friday.' So Ka'b read the Torah and said: 'The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, has spoken the truth.'" Abu Hurayrah said: "Then I met 'Abdullah ibn Salam and told him of my sitting with Ka'b and what I had related concerning Friday. I said to him: 'Ka'b said that happens once a year.' 'Abdullah ibn Salam said: 'Ka'b has erred.' Then Ka'b read the Torah again and said: 'Rather it is every Friday.' 'Abdullah ibn Salam said: 'Ka'b has spoken the truth.'"
