Waki' told us, from al-A'mash, from Abu Salih, from Abu Hurayrah, who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Three types of people Allah will not speak to on the Day of Resurrection, nor look at them, nor purify them, and for them is a painful punishment: a man who withholds surplus water from a wayfarer; a man who swears a false oath over merchandise after the afternoon prayer; and a man who pledges allegiance to an imam — if he gives him something, he fulfills the pledge, and if he does not give him, he does not fulfill it."
