و قَالَ يَعْنِي عَبْدَ الرَّحْمَنِ حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ زِيَادٍ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ يَقُولُ سَمِعْتُ أَبَا الْقَاسِمِ يَقُولُ لَوْ تَعْلَمُونَ مَا أَعْلَمُ لَضَحِكْتُمْ قَلِيلًا وَلَبَكَيْتُمْ كَثِيرًا وَلَكِنْ سَدِّدُوا وَقَارِبُوا وَأَبْشِرُوا.
الترجمة الإنجليزية
And he said — meaning 'Abd al-Rahman: Hammad narrated to us, from Muhammad ibn Ziyad, who said: I heard Abu Hurayrah say: I heard Abu al-Qasim (peace and blessings be upon him) say: 'If you knew what I know, you would laugh little and weep much. But aim for what is right, come close [to perfection], and rejoice with good tidings.'
