وَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ غَزَا نَبِيٌّ مِنْ الْأَنْبِيَاءِ فَقَالَ لِقَوْمِهِ لَا يَتَّبِعْنِي رَجُلٌ قَدْ مَلَكَ بُضْعَ امْرَأَةٍ وَهُوَ يُرِيدُ أَنْ يَبْنِيَ بِهَا وَلَمْ يَبْنِ وَلَا أَحَدٌ قَدْ بَنَى بُنْيَانًا وَلَمَّا يَرْفَعْ سُقُفَهَا وَلَا أَحَدٌ قَدْ اشْتَرَى غَنَمًا أَوْ خَلِفَاتٍ وَهُوَ يَنْتَظِرُ أَوْلَادَهَا فَغَزَا فَدَنَا مِنْ الْقَرْيَةِ حِينَ صَلَاةِ الْعَصْرِ أَوْ قَرِيبًا مِنْ ذَلِكَ فَقَالَ لِلشَّمْسِ أَنْتِ مَأْمُورَةٌ وَأَنَا مَأْمُورٌ اللَّهُمَّ احْبِسْهَا عَلَيَّ شَيْئًا فَحُبِسَتْ عَلَيْهِ حَتَّى فَتَحَ اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ فَجَمَعُوا مَا غَنِمُوا فَأَقْبَلَتْ النَّارُ لِتَأْكُلَهُ فَأَبَتْ أَنْ تَطْعَمَ فَقَالَ فِيكُمْ غُلُولٌ فَلْيُبَايِعْنِي مِنْ كُلِّ قَبِيلَةٍ رَجُلٌ فَبَايَعُوهُ فَلَصِقَتْ يَدُ رَجُلٍ بِيَدِهِ فَقَالَ فِيكُمْ الْغُلُولُ فَلْتُبَايِعْنِي قَبِيلَتُكَ فَبَايَعَتْهُ قَبِيلَتُهُ قَالَ فَلَصِقَ بِيَدِ رَجُلَيْنِ أَوْ ثَلَاثَةٍ بِيَدِهِ فَقَالَ فِيكُمْ الْغُلُولُ أَنْتُمْ غَلَلْتُمْ فَأَخْرَجُوا لَهُ مِثْلَ رَأْسِ بَقَرَةٍ مِنْ ذَهَبٍ قَالَ فَوَضَعُوهُ فِي الْمَالِ وَهُوَ بِالصَّعِيدِ فَأَقْبَلَتْ النَّارُ فَأَكَلَتْهُ فَلَمْ تَحِلَّ الْغَنَائِمُ لِأَحَدٍ مِنْ قَبْلِنَا ذَلِكَ لِأَنَّ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ رَأَى ضَعْفَنَا وَعَجْزَنَا فَطَيَّبَهَا لَنَا.
الترجمة الإنجليزية
The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: 'A prophet among the prophets went on a military expedition and said to his people: No man who has married a woman and wants to consummate the marriage but has not yet done so should follow me. Nor should a man who has built a building but has not yet raised its roof. Nor should a man who has bought sheep or pregnant she-camels and is waiting for their offspring. So he went on the expedition and approached the town around the time of Asr prayer or near it. He said to the sun: You are commanded and I am commanded. O Allah, hold it back for me a while. So it was held back for him until Allah granted him victory. They gathered the spoils, and the fire came to consume them but refused to accept them. He said: There is dishonesty among you. Let one man from each tribe pledge allegiance to me. They did so, and the hand of one man stuck to his. He said: The dishonesty is among your people. Let your tribe pledge allegiance to me. His tribe pledged allegiance, and the hands of two or three men stuck to his hand. He said: The dishonesty is with you — you have been unfaithful. So they brought out gold the size of a cow's head. He placed it with the spoils on the ground, and the fire came and consumed it all. War spoils were not lawful for anyone before us; that is because Allah the Almighty saw our weakness and inability, so He made them lawful for us.'
