حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ حَدَّثَنَا مَالِكٌ عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ سَعِيدٍ عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ يَسَارٍ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أُمِرْتُ بِقَرْيَةٍ تَأْكُلُ الْقُرَى يَقُولُونَ يَثْرِبُ وَهِيَ الْمَدِينَةُ تَنْفِي النَّاسَ كَمَا يَنْفِي الْكِيرُ خَبَثَ الْحَدِيدِ.

Abd al-Rahman told us, Malik told us, from Yahya ibn Sa'id, from Sa'id ibn Yasar, from Abu Hurayrah, who said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "I have been commanded regarding a town that devours other towns; they call it Yathrib, but it is Medina; it expels people as the bellows expels the impurities of iron."
