حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ فُضَيْلٍ عَنْ عُمَارَةَ عَنْ أَبِي زُرْعَةَ قَالَ وَلَا أَعْلَمُهُ إِلَّا عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ جَلَسَ جِبْرِيلُ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَنَظَرَ إِلَى السَّمَاءِ فَإِذَا مَلَكٌ يَنْزِلُ فَقَالَ جِبْرِيلُ إِنَّ هَذَا الْمَلَكَ مَا نَزَلَ مُنْذُ يَوْمِ خُلِقَ قَبْلَ السَّاعَةِ فَلَمَّا نَزَلَ قَالَ يَا مُحَمَّدُ أَرْسَلَنِي إِلَيْكَ رَبُّكَ قَالَ أَفَمَلِكًا نَبِيًّا يَجْعَلُكَ أَوْ عَبْدًا رَسُولًا قَالَ جِبْرِيلُ تَوَاضَعْ لِرَبِّكَ يَا مُحَمَّدُ قَالَ بَلْ عَبْدًا رَسُولًا.
الترجمة الإنجليزية
Muhammad ibn Fudayl told us, from Umarah, from Abu Zur'ah, who said: and I do not know it except from Abu Hurayrah, who said: Gabriel sat with the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, and looked up at the sky, and there was an angel descending. Gabriel said: "This angel has not descended since the day he was created, before this hour." When he descended, he said: "O Muhammad, your Lord has sent me to you: shall He make you a king-prophet or a servant-messenger?" Gabriel said: "Humble yourself before your Lord, O Muhammad." He said: "Rather, a servant-messenger."
