Yazid told us: al-Hajjaj ibn Artat informed us, from Amr ibn Shu'ayb, from his father, from his grandfather, who said: A man came to the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, and said, "O Messenger of Allah, I have relatives with whom I maintain ties while they sever them, I pardon while they wrong me, and I am good to them while they mistreat me. Shall I repay them in kind?" He said, "No, then you would all be abandoned equally. Rather, take the better course and maintain ties with them, for a supporter from Allah will remain with you as long as you remain upon that."
