Yahya ibn Sa'id narrated from Shu'bah: Amr ibn Murrah narrated to me from Abdullah ibn al-Harith from Abu Kathir from Abdullah ibn Amr from the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him): He was asked: Which person is best? He said: Everyone whose heart is makhmum (pure, free from evil) and whose tongue is truthful. They said: Truthful tongue we know, but what is makhmum of heart? He said: The one who is pious, pure, having no sin, no transgression, no rancor, and no envy.
