حَدَّثَنَا حَجَّاجٌ حَدَّثَنَا لَيْثٌ حَدَّثَنِي عُقَيْلُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ أَنَّ سَالِمَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ أَخْبَرَهُ أَنَّ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ عُمَرَ كَانَ يَمْشِي بَيْنَ يَدَيْ الْجِنَازَةِ وَأَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ يَمْشِي بَيْنَ يَدَيْهَا وَأَبُو بَكْرٍ وَعُمَرُ وَعُثْمَانُ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمْ.

Hajjaj told us; Layth told us; Uqayl ibn Khalid told me, from Ibn Shihab: that Salim ibn Abdullah ibn Umar informed him that Abdullah ibn Umar used to walk in front of the funeral bier, and that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, used to walk in front of it, as did Abu Bakr, Umar, and Uthman, may Allah be pleased with them.
