Abu al-Nadr told us, Uqbah ibn Abi al-Sahba told us, Nafi' told us, from Abdullah ibn Umar: that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, called out among the people, "The prayer is a gathering for all!" This reached Abdullah, so he hurried to his family, cast off the clothes he was wearing, and put on the clothes he used to wear when coming to the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him; then he went to the place of prayer, and the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, had already come down from his pulpit, and the people stood facing him. He said, "What has the Prophet of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, introduced today?" They said, "He forbade nabidh." He said, "Which nabidh?" They said, "He forbade the dubba' and the naqir." He said: I said to Nafi', "What about the jarrah?" He said, "What is the jarrah?" I said, "The hantamah." He said, "What is the hantamah?" I said, "The qullah." He said, "No." I said, "Then the muzaffat?" He said, "What is the muzaffat?" I said, "The waterskin that is tarred, and the flask that is tarred." He said, "No, he forbade nothing that day except the dubba' and the naqir."
