Abu Nuh told us, Layth informed us, from Yazid ibn Abdullah ibn Usamah ibn al-Had, from Abdullah ibn Dinar, from Ibn Umar: that a bedouin passed by him while they were on the road to Hajj. Ibn Umar said to him, "Are you not so-and-so, son of so-and-so?" He said, "Yes." So he went to a donkey he used to rest upon when he grew tired of his mount, and a turban he used to wrap around his head, and gave them to the bedouin. When the man had left, one of us said to him, "You went to your donkey which you used to rest on, and your turban which you used to wrap your head with, and gave them to this bedouin, when he would have been satisfied with a single dirham!" He said, "I heard the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, say: 'The most dutiful act of righteousness is that a man maintains ties with those beloved to his father after his father has passed on.'"
