حَدَّثَنَا عَبْد اللَّهِ قَالَ وَجَدْتُ فِي كِتَابِ أَبِي حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ عَنْ نَافِعٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَهُوَ عَلَى الْمِنْبَرِ وَسَأَلَهُ رَجُلٌ عَنْ الضَّبِّ فَقَالَ لَا آكُلُهُ وَلَا أُحَرِّمُهُ.

Abdullah said: I found in my father's book: Yazid narrated to us: Muhammad ibn Ishaq informed us, from Nafi', from Ibn Umar, who said: I heard the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, while he was on the pulpit, when a man asked him about the spiny-tailed lizard (dabb), say: I do not eat it, nor do I forbid it.
