Yazid told us, from Hammam, from Nafi', from Ibn 'Umar, that 'A'ishah wanted to buy Barirah, but her people refused to sell her except on condition that her right of inheritance through manumission would be theirs. 'A'ishah mentioned that to the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, and the Messenger of God, peace and blessings be upon him, said, "Buy her and free her, for indeed that right belongs to the one who paid the price."
