Yazid told us, Sa'id ibn Ziyad al-Shaybani informed us, Ziyad ibn Subayh al-Hanafi told us, who said: I was standing praying facing the House, with an old man beside me. I prolonged the prayer, and I placed my hands on my hip; the old man struck my chest with his hand, a firm blow. I said to myself, "What is wrong with him?" so I hastened to finish. Then behold, there was a young man sitting behind him. I said, "Who is this old man?" He said, "This is 'Abdullah ibn 'Umar." So I sat until he finished, then I said, "Abu 'Abd al-Rahman, what troubled you about me?" He said, "Was that you?" I said, "Yes." He said, "That is the posture of crucifixion during prayer, and the Messenger of God, peace and blessings be upon him, used to forbid it."
