Yahya ibn Sa'id narrated to us, from 'Ubaydullah: Nafi' informed me, from Ibn 'Umar, that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, caught up with 'Umar while he was among a party of riders swearing by his father, and he said: "Do not swear by your fathers; whoever must swear an oath, let him swear by Allah, or else remain silent."
