حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ سَمِعَ سَالِمًا عَنْ أَبِيهِ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ سَمِعَ عُمَرَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ وَهُوَ يَقُولُ وَأَبِي وَأَبِي فَقَالَ إِنَّ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ يَنْهَاكُمْ أَنْ تَحْلِفُوا بِآبَائِكُمْ قَالَ عُمَرُ فَوَاللَّهِ فَوَاللَّهِ مَا حَلَفْتُ بِهَا ذَاكِرًا وَلَا آثِرًا.
الترجمة الإنجليزية
Sufyan told us, from al-Zuhri, who heard Salim, from his father: that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, heard Umar, may Allah be pleased with him, saying: "By my father, by my father," so he said: "Indeed Allah, Mighty and Majestic, forbids you to swear by your fathers." Umar said: "By Allah, by Allah, I have not sworn by it since, neither intentionally mentioning it nor quoting another."
