حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ يَعْنِي ابْنَ عُيَيْنَةَ عَنْ مِسْعَرٍ عَنْ عَلْقَمَةَ بْنِ مَرْثَدٍ عَنْ مُغِيرَةَ الْيَشْكُرِيِّ عَنْ الْمَعْرُورِ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ قَالَ قَالَتْ أُمُّ حَبِيبَةَ اللَّهُمَّ أَمْتِعْنِي بِزَوْجِي رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَبِأَخِي مُعَاوِيَةَ وَبِأَبِي أَبِي سُفْيَانَ قَالَ فَقَالَ لَهَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ دَعَوْتِ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ لِآجَالٍ مَضْرُوبَةٍ وَآثَارٍ مَبْلُوغَةٍ وَأَرْزَاقٍ مَقْسُومَةٍ لَا يَتَقَدَّمُ مِنْهَا شَيْءٌ قَبْلَ حِلِّهِ وَلَا يَتَأَخَّرُ مِنْهَا لَوْ سَأَلْتِ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ أَنْ يُنْجِيَكِ مِنْ عَذَابِ الْقَبْرِ وَعَذَابِ النَّارِ.
الترجمة الإنجليزية
The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: 'There were two brothers among the Children of Israel. One of them was sinful and the other was a devoted worshipper. The worshipper kept seeing his brother sinning and would say: Desist! One day he found him sinning and said: Desist! The sinner said: Leave me to my Lord. Were you sent to watch over me? The worshipper said: By Allah, Allah will not forgive you — or: Allah will not admit you to Paradise. Their souls were taken, and they were gathered before the Lord of the Worlds. Allah said to the devout worshipper: Were you knowledgeable about Me? Did you have power over what was in My hand? He said to the sinner: Go and enter Paradise by My mercy. And He said about the other: Take him to the Fire.'
