حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ أَخْبَرَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ عَنْ عُمَارَةَ عَنْ وَهْبِ بْنِ رَبِيعَةَ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مَسْعُودٍ قَالَ إِنِّي لَمُسْتَتِرٌ بِأَسْتَارِ الْكَعْبَةِ إِذْ جَاءَ ثَلَاثَةُ نَفَرٍ ثَقَفِيٌّ وَخَتْنَاهُ قُرَشِيَّانِ كَثِيرٌ شَحْمُ بُطُونِهِمْ قَلِيلٌ فِقْهُ قُلُوبِهِمْ فَتَحَدَّثُوا بَيْنَهُمْ بِحَدِيثٍ قَالَ فَقَالَ أَحَدُهُمْ تُرَى أَنَّ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ يَسْمَعُ مَا قُلْنَا قَالَ الْآخَرُ أُرَاهُ يَسْمَعُ إِذَا رَفَعْنَا وَلَا يَسْمَعُ إِذَا خَفَضْنَا قَالَ الْآخَرَانِ كَانَ يَسْمَعُ شَيْئًا مِنْهُ إِنَّهُ لَيَسْمَعُهُ كُلَّهُ قَالَ فَذَكَرْتُ ذَلِكَ لِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ فَأَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ { وَمَا كُنْتُمْ تَسْتَتِرُونَ أَنْ يَشْهَدَ عَلَيْكُمْ سَمْعُكُمْ حَتَّى الْخَاسِرِينَ }.
الترجمة الإنجليزية
Abd al-Razzaq told us, Sufyan told us, from al-A'mash, from Umarah, from Wahb ibn Rabi'ah, from Abdullah ibn Mas'ud, who said: "I was concealed behind the curtains of the Ka'bah when three men came - a Thaqafite and his two brothers-in-law, both Qurashites, with much fat in their bellies and little understanding in their hearts. They spoke among themselves, and one of them said: 'Do you think Allah, Mighty and Majestic, hears what we say?' Another said: 'I think He hears it if we speak loudly, but does not hear it if we speak quietly.' The other two said: 'If He hears some of it, then He hears all of it.'" He said: "So I mentioned that to the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, and Allah, Mighty and Majestic, revealed: 'And you did not conceal yourselves, lest your hearing testify against you... until the losers.'"
