حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ حَدَّثَنَا الْأَعْمَشُ عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ عَلْقَمَةَ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ قَالَ جَاءَ رَجُلٌ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْكِتَابِ فَقَالَ يَا أَبَا الْقَاسِمِ أَبَلَغَكَ أَنَّ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ يَحْمِلُ الْخَلَائِقَ عَلَى أُصْبُعٍ وَالسَّمَوَاتِ عَلَى أُصْبُعٍ وَالْأَرَضِينَ عَلَى أُصْبُعٍ وَالشَّجَرَ عَلَى أُصْبُعٍ وَالثَّرَى عَلَى أُصْبُعٍ فَضَحِكَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ حَتَّى بَدَتْ نَوَاجِذُهُ فَأَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ { وَمَا قَدَرُوا اللَّهَ حَقَّ قَدْرِهِ } الْآيَةَ.
الترجمة الإنجليزية
Abu Mu'awiyah told us: al-A'mash told us, from Ibrahim, from Alqamah, from Abdullah, who said: "A man from the People of the Book came to the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, and said: 'O Abu al-Qasim, has it reached you that Allah, Mighty and Majestic, carries the creatures on one finger, the heavens on one finger, the earths on one finger, the trees on one finger, and the moist earth on one finger?' The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, laughed until his molars appeared, and Allah, Mighty and Majestic, revealed: 'They have not appraised Allah with true appraisal' - to the end of the verse."
