Hushaym told us: al-Awwam informed us, from Muhammad ibn Abi Muhammad, a freedman of Umar ibn al-Khattab, from Abu Ubaydah ibn Abdillah, from Abdullah ibn Mas'ud, who said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "There are no two Muslims whose three children die before reaching the age of puberty, but that they will be for them a strong fortress against the Fire." It was said: "O Messenger of Allah, what if there were only two?" He said: "Even if there were two." Abu Dharr said: "O Messenger of Allah, I have sent ahead only two." He said: "Even if there were two." Then Ubayy ibn Ka'b, Abu al-Mundhir, the master of the Qur'an reciters, said: "I have sent ahead only one." It was said to him: "Even if there were only one?" He said: "That is only for the first shock of grief."
