Abu al-Nadr narrated to us, Ibrahim ibn Sa'd narrated to us, from Muhammad ibn Ishaq, from Ubaydullah ibn Abi Rafi', from his father, from his mother Salma, who said: Fatimah fell ill with the illness in which she died, and I was nursing her. One morning she seemed better than at any time during her illness. She said: Ali had gone out for some errand. She said: "O mother, pour water for me to bathe." So I poured water for her and she bathed as well as I had ever seen her bathe. Then she said: "O mother, give me my new clothes." So I gave them to her and she put them on. Then she said: "O mother, move my bed to the middle of the room." So I did, and she lay down facing the qiblah, placing her hand under her cheek. Then she said: "O mother, I am being taken now. I am being taken now. I have purified myself, so let no one uncover me." And she died in that spot. She said: When Ali came, I informed him.
