Muhammad ibn Ja'far narrated to us, Shu'bah narrated to us, from al-Hakam. He said: I heard Abu Umar al-Sini, from Abu al-Darda', that when a guest came to stay with him, Abu al-Darda' would say to him: "Are you staying so we can saddle up (prepare), or are you leaving so we can provide fodder?" He said: If the guest said, "I am leaving," Abu al-Darda' would say: "I have nothing better for you than something the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) commanded us with. We said: 'O Messenger of Allah, the wealthy have taken all the reward. They perform Hajj and we cannot, they wage jihad and we cannot, and so on.' So the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: 'Shall I not guide you to something that, if you take hold of it, you will come with better than what any of them comes with? Say Allahu Akbar thirty-four times, SubhanAllah thirty-three times, and Alhamdulillah thirty-three times after every prayer.'"
