حَدَّثَنَا رَوْحٌ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو يُونُسَ الْقُشَيْرِيُّ عَنْ سِمَاكِ بْنِ حَرْبٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ خَبَّابِ بْنِ الْأَرَتِّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي خَبَّابُ بْنُ الْأَرَتِّ قَالَ إِنَّا لَقُعُودٌ عَلَى بَابِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ نَنْتَظِرُ أَنْ يَخْرُجَ لِصَلَاةِ الظُّهْرِ إِذْ خَرَجَ عَلَيْنَا فَقَالَ اسْمَعُوا فَقُلْنَا سَمِعْنَا ثُمَّ قَالَ اسْمَعُوا فَقُلْنَا سَمِعْنَا فَقَالَ إِنَّهُ سَيَكُونُ عَلَيْكُمْ أُمَرَاءُ فَلَا تُعِينُوهُمْ عَلَى ظُلْمِهِمْ وَلَا تُصَدِّقُوهُمْ بِكَذِبِهِمْ فَإِنَّ مَنْ أَعَانَهُمْ عَلَى ظُلْمِهِمْ وَصَدَّقَهُمْ بِكَذِبِهِمْ فَلَنْ يَرِدَ عَلَيَّ الْحَوْضَ.

Rawh told us, he said: Abu Yunus al-Qushayri told us, from Simak ibn Harb, from Abdullah ibn Khabbab ibn al-Aratt, he said: My father Khabbab ibn al-Aratt told me, he said: We were sitting at the door of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), waiting for him to come out for the Dhuhr prayer, when he came out to us and said: "Listen." We said: "We have listened." Then he said: "Listen." We said: "We have listened." Then he said: "There will be rulers over you; do not help them in their wrongdoing, and do not believe them in their lies. Whoever helps them in their wrongdoing and believes them in their lies will never come to me at the Basin."
