Affan narrated to us: Abu Awanah narrated to us: Ibrahim ibn Muhajir narrated to us, from Abu Bakr ibn Abd al-Rahman ibn al-Harith ibn Hisham, who said: The messenger of Marwan who was sent to Umm Ma'qil informed me - he said, she said: Abu Ma'qil came with the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, performing the pilgrimage, and when Abu Ma'qil arrived, Umm Ma'qil said, "I know that I owe a pilgrimage, and you have a young camel - give it to me so that I may perform the pilgrimage on it." He said to her, "You know that I have devoted it to the path of Allah." She said, "Then give me the harvest of your palm trees." He said, "You know it is the sustenance of my family." She said, "Then I shall speak to the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, and mention this to him." He said: So the two of them set off walking until they came in to him. He said: She said to him, "O Messenger of Allah, I owe a pilgrimage, and Abu Ma'qil has a young camel." Abu Ma'qil said, "She speaks truly; I devoted it to the path of Allah." He said, "Give it to her so she may perform the pilgrimage on it, for it is in the path of Allah." He said: When he gave her the camel, she said, "O Messenger of Allah, I am a woman who has grown old and become ill - is there a deed that would suffice for me in place of my pilgrimage?" He said, "An umrah in Ramadan suffices for your pilgrimage."
