حَدَّثَنَا يَعْقُوبُ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي عَنِ ابْنِ إِسْحَاقَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي يَحْيَى بْنُ عَبَّادِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الزُّبَيْرِ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ جَدَّتِهِ أَسْمَاءَ بِنْتِ أَبِي بَكْرٍ قَالَتْ لَمَّا وَقَفَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِذِي طُوًى قَالَ أَبُو قُحَافَةَ لِابْنَةٍ لَهُ مِنْ أَصْغَرِ وَلَدِهِ أَيْ بُنَيَّةُ اظْهَرِي بِي عَلَى أَبِي قَبِيسٍ قَالَتْ وَقَدْ كُفَّ بَصَرُهُ قَالَتْ فَأَشْرَفْتُ بِهِ عَلَيْهِ فَقَالَ يَا بُنَيَّةُ مَاذَا تَرَيْنَ قَالَتْ أَرَى سَوَادًا مُجْتَمِعًا قَالَ تِلْكَ الْخَيْلُ قَالَتْ وَأَرَى رَجُلًا يَسْعَى بَيْنَ ذَلِكَ السَّوَادِ مُقْبِلًا وَمُدْبِرًا قَالَ يَا بُنَيَّةُ ذَلِكَ الْوَازِعُ يَعْنِي الَّذِي يَأْمُرُ الْخَيْلَ وَيَتَقَدَّمُ إِلَيْهَا ثُمَّ قَالَتْ قَدْ وَاللَّهِ انْتَشَرَ السَّوَادُ فَقَالَ قَدْ وَاللَّهِ إِذَا دَفَعَتْ الْخَيْلُ فَأَسْرِعِي بِي إِلَى بَيْتِي فَانْحَطَّتْ بِهِ وَتَلَقَّاهُ الْخَيْلُ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَصِلَ إِلَى بَيْتِهِ وَفِي عُنُقِ الْجَارِيَةِ طَوْقٌ لَهَا مِنْ وَرِقٍ فَتَلَقَّاهُ الرَّجُلُ فَاقْتَلَعَهُ مِنْ عُنُقِهَا قَالَتْ فَلَمَّا دَخَلَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَكَّةَ وَدَخَلَ الْمَسْجِدَ أَتَاهُ أَبُو بَكْرٍ بِأَبِيهِ يَعُودُهُ فَلَمَّا رَآهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ هَلَّا تَرَكْتَ الشَّيْخَ فِي بَيْتِهِ حَتَّى أَكُونَ أَنَا آتِيهِ فِيهِ قَالَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ هُوَ أَحَقُّ أَنْ يَمْشِيَ إِلَيْكَ مِنْ أَنْ تَمْشِيَ أَنْتَ إِلَيْهِ قَالَ فَأَجْلَسَهُ بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ ثُمَّ مَسَحَ صَدْرَهُ ثُمَّ قَالَ لَهُ أَسْلِمْ فَأَسْلَمَ وَدَخَلَ بِهِ أَبُو بَكْرٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَرَأْسُهُ كَأَنَّهُ ثَغَامَةٌ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ غَيِّرُوا هَذَا مِنْ شَعْرِهِ ثُمَّ قَامَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ فَأَخَذَ بِيَدِ أُخْتِهِ فَقَالَ أَنْشُدُ بِاللَّهِ وَبِالْإِسْلَامِ طَوْقَ أُخْتِي فَلَمْ يُجِبْهُ أَحَدٌ فَقَالَ يَا أُخَيَّةُ احْتَسِبِي طَوْقَكِ.

Ya'qub told us: My father told us, from Ibn Ishaq, who said: Yahya b. Abbad b. Abd Allah b. al-Zubayr told me, from his father, from his grandmother Asma' bint Abi Bakr, who said: When the Messenger of God (peace and blessings be upon him) halted at Dhu Tuwa, Abu Quhafah said to a daughter of his, the youngest of his children, 'O my little daughter, help me up onto Abu Qubays.' His sight had failed him. She said: I brought him up to overlook it, and he said, 'O my little daughter, what do you see?' She said, 'I see a mass of black gathered together.' He said, 'That is the cavalry.' She said, 'And I see a man running back and forth amid that mass, coming and going.' He said, 'O my little daughter, that is the one who marshals the ranks, the one who commands the cavalry and goes ahead of it.' Then she said, 'By God, the mass has now spread out.' He said, 'By God, when the cavalry advances, hurry me to my house.' So she brought him down, and the cavalry met him before he reached his house; and around the girl's neck was a silver collar, and a man met him and tore it from her neck. She said: When the Messenger of God (peace and blessings be upon him) entered Makkah and entered the mosque, Abu Bakr brought his father to visit him. When the Messenger of God (peace and blessings be upon him) saw him, he said, 'Why did you not leave the old man in his house, so that I might come to him there?' Abu Bakr said, 'O Messenger of God, he is more entitled to walk to you than you are to walk to him.' He said: So he seated him in front of him, then wiped his chest, then said to him, 'Submit,' and he submitted. Abu Bakr, may God be pleased with him, brought him in to the Messenger of God (peace and blessings be upon him) with his head looking white like a plant, and the Messenger of God (peace and blessings be upon him) said, 'Change this, his hair.' Then Abu Bakr stood and took his sister's hand and said, 'I adjure you by God and by Islam, my sister's collar,' but no one answered him. He said, 'O little sister, seek reward with God for your collar.'
