Abu al-Nadr told us, 'Abd al-Hamid told us, Shahr told me, he said: I heard Umm Salamah relate, claiming that Fatimah came to the Prophet of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) complaining to him about the housework, saying, "O Messenger of Allah, by Allah, my hands have become calloused from the grinding stone - I grind at one time and knead at another." The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said to her, "If Allah wills to provide you with something, it will come to you; but I will direct you to something better than that: when you settle into your bed, glorify Allah thirty-three times, magnify Him thirty-three times, and praise Him thirty-four times - that makes a hundred - it is better for you than a servant. And when you have prayed the dawn prayer, say: 'There is no god but Allah alone, with no partner; His is the dominion and His is the praise; He gives life and causes death; in His hand is all good; and He has power over all things' - ten times after the dawn prayer, and ten times after the sunset prayer. Each one of these is recorded as ten good deeds and erases ten sins, and each one of them is like freeing a slave from among the children of Isma'il, and no sin committed that day may overtake it except associating partners with Allah - 'There is no god but Allah alone, with no partner' - and it is your protection, from the time you say it in the morning until you say it in the evening, from every devil and every evil."
