'Abdullah b. Numayr told us, he said 'Abd al-Malik - meaning Ibn Abi Sulayman - told us, from 'Ata' b. Abi Rabah, who said someone who heard Umm Salamah relate told me that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was in her house, and Fatimah brought him a pot containing khazirah, and brought it in to him. He said to her, "Call your husband and your two sons." So 'Ali, al-Husayn, and al-Hasan came and entered upon him, and sat eating from that khazirah, while he was reclining on a raised couch of his, over which was a Khaybar cloak. She said: "And I was praying in the chamber." Then Allah, Mighty and Sublime, revealed this verse: "Allah only wishes to remove impurity from you, People of the House, and to purify you with a thorough purification." She said: He took the extra part of the cloak and covered them with it, then put out his hand and raised it to the sky, saying, "O Allah, these are the people of my house and those closest to me; remove impurity from them and purify them with a thorough purification. O Allah, these are the people of my house and those closest to me; remove impurity from them and purify them with a thorough purification." She said: "So I put my head into the room and said, 'And am I with you, O Messenger of Allah?' He said, 'You are headed toward good, you are headed toward good.'" 'Abd al-Malik said: Abu Layla also told me from Umm Salamah, the same as 'Ata's hadith exactly. 'Abd al-Malik said: Dawud b. Abi 'Awf, Abu al-Hajjaf, also told me, from Shahr b. Hawshab, from Umm Salamah, exactly the same.
