Ya'qub told us: My father told us, from Ibn Ishaq, who said: Abd al-Rahman ibn al-Qasim ibn Muhammad told me, from his father, from Aisha, wife of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, who said: When the news of Ja'far's death came, we recognized the grief in the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him. Then a man came in to him and said, "O Messenger of Allah, the women have overwhelmed us and distracted us." He said, "Go back to them and silence them." He went, then came back and said the same thing to him again. He said - and perhaps excessive exertion harms the one who undertakes it - "Go and silence them, and if they refuse, throw dust in their mouths." She said: I said to myself, "May Allah keep you far away! By Allah, you have neither left yourself alone nor will you obey the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him." She said: I knew that he would not be able to throw dust in their mouths.
