Hashim ibn al-Qasim narrated to us, he said: Abd al-Aziz, that is Ibn Abdullah ibn Abi Salama, narrated to us, from Abd al-Rahman ibn al-Qasim, from his father, who said: Aisha used to say: We set out with the Messenger of God, peace and blessings be upon him, thinking of nothing but the Hajj. When we arrived at Sarif, I began menstruating. The Messenger of God, peace and blessings be upon him, entered upon me while I was weeping, and said, "What makes you weep?" I said, "I wish I had not come out this year." He said, "Perhaps you have begun your period?" - meaning menstruation. She said: I said, "Yes." He said, "This is something God has decreed for the daughters of Adam, so do whatever a pilgrim does, except that you should not circumambulate the House until you are pure." When we arrived at Mecca, the Messenger of God, peace and blessings be upon him, said to his companions, "Make it an Umrah," so the people exited ihram except those who had a sacrificial animal with them. The sacrificial animal was with the Messenger of God, peace and blessings be upon him, and Abu Bakr and Umar and those of means. She said: Then they set off entering ihram for the Hajj. When it was the Day of Sacrifice, I became pure, so the Messenger of God sent me and I performed the circumambulation - meaning I circled the House. She said: Then we were brought the meat of cattle, and I said, "What is this?" They said, "This is what the Messenger of God, peace and blessings be upon him, slaughtered on behalf of his wives, cattle." She said: Then on the night of al-Hasba, I said, "O Messenger of God, the people return with a Hajj and an Umrah, while I return with only a Hajj." So he ordered Abd al-Rahman ibn Abi Bakr, and he took me up behind him on his camel. She said: I still remember, being a young girl, that I would doze off and the rear part of the saddle would strike my face, until he brought me to al-Tan'im, where I entered ihram for an Umrah in exchange for the Umrah of the people which they had performed.
