حَدَّثَنَا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ عُمَرَ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا يُونُسُ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ عَنْ عُرْوَةَ عَنْ عَائِشَةَ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ لَوْ اسْتَقْبَلْتُ مِنْ أَمْرِي مَا اسْتَدْبَرْتُ مَا سُقْتُ الْهَدْيَ وَلَأَحْلَلْتُ مَعَ الَّذِينَ حَلُّوا مِنْ الْعُمْرَةِ.
الترجمة الإنجليزية
Aisha reported: When the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) was healthy, he used to say: "No prophet's soul is taken until he is shown his place in Paradise, then given the choice." When death approached him, and his head was on my thigh, he fainted. When he recovered, he fixed his gaze on the ceiling and said: "O Allah, the highest companion." I said: Then he is not choosing us. I realized that this was what he had told us when he was healthy. The last words he spoke were: "O Allah, the highest companion."
