Abd al-Rahman ibn Mahdi narrated to us, he said: Mu'awiyah narrated to us from Abu al-Zahiriyyah from Jubayr ibn Nufayr, who said: I entered upon Aisha and she said, 'Do you recite Surat al-Ma'idah?' I said, 'Yes.' She said, 'It is the last surah to be revealed, so whatever you find in it lawful, treat as lawful, and whatever you find in it forbidden, treat as forbidden.' And I asked her about the character of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, and she said: 'The Qur'an.'
