حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ عَنْ سُفْيَانَ عَنْ مَنْصُورٍ عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنِ الْأَسْوَدِ عَنْ عَائِشَةَ عَنْ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ الْوَلَاءُ لِمَنْ أَعْطَى الْوَرِقَ وَأَعْتَقَ وَوَلِيِّ النِّعْمَةِ وَكَانَ زَوْجُهَا حُرًّا فَخُيِّرَتْ.

Waki' narrated from Sufyan from Mansur from Ibrahim from al-Aswad from Aisha, from the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, who said: 'The right of inheritance from a freed slave belongs to whoever paid the price and freed him,' and to the one who did the favor of manumission; and her husband was free, so she was given the choice.
