قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا وُهَيْبٌ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا مَنْصُورُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ عَنْ أُمِّهِ عَنْ عَائِشَةَ أَنَّ امْرَأَةً أَتَتْ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَتْ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ كَيْفَ أَغْتَسِلُ عِنْدَ الطُّهْرِ فَقَالَ خُذِي فِرْصَةً مُمَسَّكَةً فَتَوَضَّئِي قَالَتْ كَيْفَ أَتَوَضَّأُ بِهَا قَالَ تَوَضَّئِي بِهَا قَالَتْ كَيْفَ أَتَوَضَّأُ بِهَا ثُمَّ إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ سَبَّحَ فَأَعْرَضَ عَنْهَا ثُمَّ قَالَ تَوَضَّئِي بِهَا قَالَتْ عَائِشَةُ فَفَطِنْتُ لِمَا يُرِيدُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ فَأَخَذْتُهَا فَجَذَبْتُهَا إِلَيَّ فَأَخْبَرْتُهَا بِمَا يُرِيدُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ.

Affan told us: Wuhayb told us: Mansur ibn Abd al-Rahman told us, from his mother, from Aisha, that a woman came to the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, and said: 'O Messenger of Allah, how should I purify myself after my menstrual period?' He said: 'Take a piece of cloth perfumed with musk and purify yourself with it.' She said: 'How should I purify myself with it?' He said: 'Purify yourself with it.' She said: 'How should I purify myself with it?' Then the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said 'Glory be to Allah' and turned away from her, then said: 'Purify yourself with it.' Aisha said: Then I realized what the Messenger of Allah meant, so I took her aside and pulled her to me and told her what the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, meant.
