Ali ibn Ishaq told us: Abdullah informed us: Ibn Lahi'ah informed us, from al-Harith ibn Yazid, from Ziyad ibn Nu'aym al-Hadrami, from Muslim ibn Mikhraq, who said: I said to A'ishah, "O Mother of the Believers, some people recite the Qur'an, one of them finishing it twice or three times in a single night." She said, "Those recited but did not truly recite. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) would stand the whole night, reciting Surat al-Baqarah, Surat Al Imran, and Surat al-Nisa; and he would not pass by a verse containing glad tidings without supplicating Allah, Mighty and Majestic, and yearning for it, nor pass by a verse containing a warning without supplicating Allah, Mighty and Majestic, and seeking refuge from it."
