حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ كُنَاسَةَ الْأَسَدِيُّ أَبُو يَحْيَى قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ بَلَغَنِي أَنَّ عَائِشَةَ قَالَتْ مَا اسْتَمَعْتُ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِلَّا مَرَّةً فَإِنَّ عُثْمَانَ جَاءَهُ فِي نَحْرِ الظَّهِيرَةِ فَظَنَنْتُ أَنَّهُ جَاءَهُ فِي أَمْرِ النِّسَاءِ فَحَمَلَتْنِي الْغَيْرَةُ عَلَى أَنْ أَصْغَيْتُ إِلَيْهِ فَسَمِعْتُهُ يَقُولُ إِنَّ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ مُلْبِسُكَ قَمِيصًا تُرِيدُكَ أُمَّتِي عَلَى خَلْعِهِ فَلَا تَخْلَعْهُ فَلَمَّا رَأَيْتُ عُثْمَانَ يَبْذُلُ لَهُمْ مَا سَأَلُوهُ إِلَّا خَلْعَهُ عَلِمْتُ أَنَّهُ مِنْ عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الَّذِي عَهِدَ إِلَيْهِ.
الترجمة الإنجليزية
Muhammad ibn Kunasah al-Asadi, Abu Yahya, told us: Ishaq ibn Sa'id told us, from his father, who said: It reached me that A'ishah said: "I never eavesdropped on the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) except once: Uthman came to him at midday, and I thought he had come about some matter concerning women, so jealousy drove me to listen closely to him. I heard him say: 'Allah, Mighty and Majestic, will clothe you with a garment, and my community will want you to take it off - so do not take it off.' When I saw Uthman giving them everything they asked of him except taking it off, I knew that it was part of the covenant the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) had entrusted to him."
