حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي مَالِكٌ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي بَكْرٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ عَمْرَةَ أَنَّهَا أَخْبَرَتْهُ أَنَّهَا سَمِعَتْ عَائِشَةَ وَذُكِرَ لَهَا أَنَّ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ عُمَرَ يَقُولُ إِنَّ الْمَيِّتَ لَيُعَذَّبُ بِبُكَاءِ الْحَيِّ فَقَالَتْ عَائِشَةُ يَغْفِرُ اللَّهُ لِأَبِي عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ أَمَا إِنَّهُ لَمْ يَكْذِبْ وَلَكِنَّهُ نَسِيَ أَوْ أَخْطَأَ إِنَّمَا مَرَّ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَلَى يَهُودِيَّةٍ يُبْكَى عَلَيْهَا فَقَالَ إِنَّهُمْ لَيَبْكُونَ عَلَيْهَا وَإِنَّهَا لَتُعَذَّبُ فِي قَبْرِهَا.

Ishaq told us: Malik told me, from Abdullah ibn Abi Bakr, from his father, from Amrah, that she informed him that she heard A'ishah - and it was mentioned to her that Abdullah ibn Umar was saying that the dead is punished on account of the weeping of the living - and A'ishah said: "May Allah forgive Abu Abd al-Rahman; he did not lie, but he forgot or erred. The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, only passed by a Jewish woman being wept over, and he said: 'They are weeping over her, while she is being punished in her grave.'"
