Muhammad ibn Ja'far told us: Shu'bah told us, from Budayl, from Abdullah ibn Shaqiq, who said: I was ill in Persia, so I used to pray sitting. I asked A'ishah about that, and she said: the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, used to pray a long part of the night standing and a long part of the night sitting. When he recited while standing, he would bow standing, or he showed humility while standing; and when he recited while sitting, he would bow while sitting.
