Aisha narrated the full account of the Prophet's bewitchment: "The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) remained for six months thinking he had done something when he had not. Two angels came - one sat at his head and the other at his feet. One asked: 'What ails the man?' The other said: 'He has been bewitched.' 'Who bewitched him?' 'Labid ibn al-A'sam.' 'In what?' 'In a comb, some hair, and the spathe of a male date palm, in the well of Dharwan, under a stone.' The Prophet woke and said: 'O Aisha, did you see that Allah has answered me regarding what I asked Him?' He went to the well and ordered it to be taken out. He said: 'This is the well I was shown. By Allah, its water is like henna soaking and its palm trees are like the heads of devils.' When asked to burn it, he said: 'Allah has healed me, and I dislike to stir up evil among people from it.'"
